Waccabuc, New York

Elegant, enduring, and evocative of New England charm, this Westchester County two-story 5,000 sq.ft. full interior renovation is a seamless blend of the clients’ aesthetic vision and functionality that enables the past and future to define the present.

Drawing inspiration from the homeowners’ appreciation for artistic forms, shapes and textures, the design integrates carefully selected color palettes and materials with handmade craftsmen finishes, classic fixtures and customized furniture. As are the repurposed 200-year old Vermont ceiling and mantle beams, many elements were sourced from across the U.S., Italy, France, Mexico and as far as Nepal. Choosing some of the world’s best-skilled artisans in the Himalayan region to hand-weave the custom-designed wool and silk rugs also provides sustainable economic opportunities for the indigenous communities.

By adhering to the guiding principle that design shapes not only interiors but also the lives of the people who inhabit them, the ultimate result is a refined and sophisticated yet comfortable transformation that reflects the owners’ needs, embraces their aspirations, and makes their residence feel as much a sanctuary as it does a home.
